Youth Mental Health First Aid

Youth Mental Health First Aid is an entry-level training that teaches adults how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adolescents ages 12-18.  Please select one of the training dates below.

You must be 18 years or older to take this class.

You will learn:

  • Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges
  • 5-Step action plan to help a youth in crisis and non-crisis situations
  • How to connect a youth to appropriate services and supports

Parents • School Staff • Educators • Coaches • Youth Group Leaders • First Responders • Youth-Serving Adults

Class format and instruction:

Mental Health First Aid training includes presentations, discussions, small group activities, video clips and hands-on activities. There are two to three instructors for each training. Instructors are certified by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing and have a variety of experience and knowledge around mental health and substance use issues.

Registration:

Offered without cost to you by Linn County Health Services. Certification will be provided.

Location: The Linn County Armory Building is located at 104 SW 4th Ave, Albany (corner of 4th and Lyons in downtown Albany).

Parking: Free parking is available on the side streets. Please allow time to find parking, and be aware of any time limit signs.
