Vaping Conversation Cards

The Linn County Health Services Public Health Program has created a new set of Vaping Conversation Cards – and they are free to Linn County families, educators, and organizations.

Vaping conversation cards

The Linn County Health Services Public Health Program has created a new set of Vaping Conversation Cards—a simple, practical tool to help adults start conversations with youth about the risks of vaping.

The cards include facts and questions designed to spark discussion and support healthy choices. Here’s a preview of what’s inside:

  • Most kids don’t vape. In Linn County, only 1 in 10 teenagers has used a vape in the past 30 days, according to the 2024 Oregon Student Health Survey.
  • Your influence matters. Research shows that younger kids and teens are more likely to use tobacco when they see older siblings or role models doing so.

  • Practice saying “no.” The cards help youth think through how to respond if a friend says, “Just try it once.” Possible responses include:
  • “I’m not into that.”
  • “I don’t feel like it.”
  • “I’d be suspended from the team.”
  • “I know what it can do to me.”
  • “That’s so bad for you!”

To ensure the cards reflect youth perspectives, Linn County STAND Youth Council students provided input during their development.

If you live or work in Linn County, you can request a free set of Vaping Conversation Cards by emailing danicrabtree@linncountyhealth.org. While supplies last.
