Summer Responsibly
Prevent underage drinking this summer. Choose not to provide alcohol to minors.
As summer heats up, remember to keep kids safe from alcohol. Youth who drink are at risk for negative consequences, including physical and mental health issues, social and academic problems, and legal issues.
Youth who drink are more likely to experience:
- Changes in brain development that may have life-long effects
- Social problems, such as fighting or lack of participation in youth activities
- Physical problems and an increased risk of developing alcohol use disorders later in life
- Unwanted, unplanned, and unprotected sexual activity
- Physical and sexual violence
- Increased risk of suicide and homicide
- Alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes and other unintentional injuries, such as burns, falls, or drowning
- Memory problems
- Misuse of other substances
- School problems, such as higher rates of absences or lower grades
Let’s keep summer safe and enjoyable for Linn County youth by not providing alcohol to minors.
